SULLAIR

Established in 1965, Sullair has consistently been at the forefront of the compressed air industry, leveraging its extensive knowledge to deliver exceptional air compression solutions. By 1968, the company had solidified its presence in the portable compressor market and subsequently launched stationary rotary screw compressors tailored for industrial applications. As the demand grew for clean, dry air in specialized sectors, Sullair responded by creating air treatment systems designed specifically for their compressors. Furthermore, to address customer needs, the company developed its own line of proprietary compressor fluids and related products. Sullair also expanded its rotary screw technology to manufacture high-efficiency two-stage compressors, encapsulated units, vacuum systems, and air tools. In 1984, Sullair became a subsidiary of Sundstrand Corporation, a renowned global supplier of aerospace and industrial products.

In 1999, United Technologies Corporation (UTC) acquired Sundstrand, merging it with UTC’s Hamilton Standard division to form Hamilton Sundstrand, which has since emerged as a leading supplier of advanced airframe components and subsystems for commercial aviation. This acquisition was part of UTC’s strategy to enhance its aerospace and commercial business segments, bringing together Sullair, Milton Roy, and Sundyne under the Industrial Products Division of Hamilton Sundstrand.

In July 2012, UTC expanded its aerospace portfolio by acquiring Goodrich for $16.5 billion, merging it with Hamilton Sundstrand to create UTC Aerospace Systems. This strategic move meant that the Industrial Products sector was now outside UTC’s core operations. To finance the Goodrich acquisition, UTC decided to divest its three industrial companies. Consequently, in July 2012, an agreement was reached to sell Sullair, Milton Roy, and Sundyne to private equity firms The Carlyle Group and BC Partners.

Sullair Today

With manufacturing facilities spread across three continents and a comprehensive global distribution network, Sullair caters to customers worldwide. The company’s plants in the United States, China, and Australia are ISO 9001 certified, ensuring that manufacturing processes adhere to the highest quality standards. Each facility boasts dedicated training centers that provide practical compressor training for channel partners and customers in multiple languages.

Comprehensive Rotary Screw Air Compression Solutions

Sullair is a prominent manufacturer of rotary screw air compressors, which represent the most mechanically efficient method of air compression today, leading to reduced operating and maintenance costs. The company designs compressors for both portable and stationary applications, earning a reputation as one of the most reliable and robust manufacturers in the industry.

Sullair pioneered the rotary screw compression technology, introducing it to the market in the mid-1960s. Initially, many industry players believed that alternative technologies, such as reciprocating compressors, would prevail. However, Sullair’s foresight has proven invaluable, as other companies eventually followed its lead. The thriving rotary screw market today owes much to Sullair’s unwavering commitment to this technology.

Currently, Sullair has a global footprint, offering a full range of high-quality, customizable stationary air compressor systems available in both 50Hz and 60Hz configurations. Additionally, the company provides a complete lineup of robust, towable portable engine-driven air compressors capable of tackling the toughest jobs in various environments.

Corporate Responsibility: A Commitment to Community and Environment

Sullair and its employees are dedicated supporters of charitable organizations and non-profits within the communities where they live and work. The company actively engages in volunteer initiatives and funds qualified 501(c)(3) organizations that align with its mission.

Environmental Commitment

In line with its core values, Sullair prioritizes the protection of the environment and the health and safety of its employees, customers, and the global communities in which it operates. The company recognizes that integrating effective environmental, health, and safety management practices throughout its operations allows for the delivery of innovative products and services while preserving resources for future generations. Sullair management is firmly committed to the belief that all workplace injuries, illnesses, and adverse environmental impacts are preventable, continuously enhancing its health, safety, and environmental management systems.
